Interview with Lamb Of God's Chris Adler

Chris Adler - New Signature Snare 2009
"When I bought my first drum kit I knew that picking a snare drum was an important part of defining my own unique sound. The local store "Boykin's music" had a beautiful new 12x5.5 MAPEX Birds Eye Maple black stain snare on display in a glass case. I saved up the $ and used that snare on every record and at almost every live show Lamb of God has ever played. Despite it's size, it's the largest weapon in my kit!" by Chris Adler.
What inspired the eagle design? Talk a little about the two sides of the design - one in full feather, the other being skeletal.
The two headed Eagle is representative of the two parts of my life that define who I am; The creative, musical side is represented with the claw clenching the drumsticks, and the family side is represented with the claw clenching wheat, symbolic of nourishment and life; The year 1972 is the year of my birth and the Latin phrases mean passion, determination and strength of will; My last name means Eagle in German and this serves as the defining symbol of who I am and my family history.
This drum is equipped with Aquarian heads. Can you tell us why you choose Aquarian? I chose them originally back in the day because they would last longer ad sound better than any other head. I never found a reason better than that to change! Does the head and shell combination create a unique sound that appeals to you? The size of the drum mixed with a high tension, hi energy head creates a unique, high pitched, yet full bodied punch that has become a signature sound in my playing and in the bands catalogue.
